Chanel: Pre-Fall 2011

“Granny take a trip to Constantinople.” This year’s pre-fall collection was a cross between all things classic at Chanel and a cross with the Byzantium empire. Looking at the showroom was enough to foreshadow the upcoming collection. Set at the classic store at 31 Rue Cambon, the walls were completely embroidered with thousands of gold sequins, which is exactly what we saw. Classic tweeds, knee-length skirts, nearly floor touching coats and blazers, and of course we couldn’t be without the jewelry, which this year keeping with the theme was gold. And adding to the drama of the showing were the shoes, spectacular!  Very antiquely romantic with a youthful sass. If this is pre-fall, let summer fly, and autumn arrive!
